A fire & weed mitigation goat grazing business looking for land to live on and maintain with 75 goats, 4 dogs, 2 people

We are a regenerative land management business that specifies in fire and weed mitigation. We use goats to sustainably reduce risks of wildfires, mitigate weeds without using herbicides, and bring the benefits of regenerative agriculture to people's land. The ultimate goal of this business is to do our part in taking care of the land and water systems in the Four Corners area and reduce wildfire danger in the at-risk eco system. At 75 goats, we are at a comfortable herd size, but have interest in increasing size if business matches our desires. We are also excited to get into the meat business in a few years, with plans of being the only USDA goat meat producer in the Four Corners region.

Additional Details

DuranGoats has been in business for 4 years, and has grazed over 200 acres of land in La Plata County (CO), San Juan County (NM), and Montezuma County (CO), bringing the benefits of regenerative agriculture to the lands. This reduces fire dangers, increases water retention, and builds the soil of our land. Not only does DuranGoats fight the good fight on the field, but we also function as a major component for the community. We have taught college courses at Fort Lewis, donated hundreds of hours in free site visits, given presentations at community functions and farming conventions, all to raise community awareness on regenerative land management practices.

Equipment and Infrastructure Details

We have most of the infrastructure we need for the goats, but the more we have access to, the better. A barn would be nice, but in lieu, we would set up temporary shelters. Probably the most important thing would be water and electrical access for goats and ourselves. We want to live in tiny homes on property so access to some form of water or electric would be extremely helpful.
