Seeking
- Farmland
- Less than 1 acres
- Short-term lease (1-4 years)
Desired Locations
Vegetable and seed farmer for 6 years, using regenerative methods. Seeking 1/4 acre or more in greater Durango area.
Goals, Values, Vision
I have been farming on my own outside Durango in high elevation for two seasons now, and I am ready to grow into a larger piece of land. My ideal spot will have space for at least one 50- or 100-foot high tunnel, even if I need to bring one in. I would like to shift my operation from growing vegetables for market to a CSA-model with about half of my growing space devoted to growing crops for seed. I would also like to grow out one type of grain each year on a larger scale (1/10 acre or so). I am working on growing and making my own fertility and would love space to produce more compost. I use low-machinery, low-tillage methods with a lot of importance placed on soil health.

Equipment and Infrastructure Details
My needs are very flexible. I have farmed for two years with very little infrastructure. Ideally I would have a dry place to store tools and to dry and process seeds. They don’t take up a lot of space, but I usually end up with a few dozen large paper bags full of seeds that need to be stored and later cleaned.
Cold storage would be helpful, as well as a place to wash and pack vegetables if I’m able to have a CSA.
A greenhouse would be helpful for starting seedlings, but I have a small mobile one I can make work. A high tunnel would help with warm-weather crops and early-season veggies.
A fence is definitely necessary, and I can build one. I have a lot of irrigation supplies already.
