Farmer(s) looking for long term access to land and water who value conservation agriculture and community!

We are seeking farmers who want to be part of a shared farming space within a knowledgeable, hard-working community. Our goal is to support growers looking to expand their operations and establish a long-term home—where they can invest in stewarding the land and building their business.

Specifically, we’re looking for farmers who:

  • Are interested in leasing between 1 and 30 acres, with a 3–5 year lease commitment
  • Have access to the equipment needed to support their growing operations and responsibly manage their leased land
  • Prioritize sustainable agricultural practices
  • Have 1–2 years of farm management or ownership experience

Quality of Land

Through a partnership with the Fort Collins Natural Areas Department, Poudre Valley Community Farms offers below-market rates for access to land and raw water. The 175-acre property is currently home to five diversified vegetable farms, one cut flower farm, and a seasonal cattle grazing operation. Over the past five years, the land has been thoughtfully transitioned from a City-designated natural area to a productive, sustainable space for diversified vegetable farming and grazing.

Water Rights

I have water rights.

Water Source

Irrigation Ditch, Municipal Water, Pond (with surface rights)

Irrigation Infrastructure

We have two earthen ditches on the west side of the property, which supply water to an irrigation pond. From there, water can be pumped to individual lease areas. Producers are responsible for providing their own irrigation supplies, including a pump systems, and poly to transport water either from the pond or directly from the ditch to their leased area. For cover crops and other row crops, flood irrigation is also available as an option.

Additional Details

PVCF's lease with FCNAD provides access to 7 shares of Louden Irrigation and Canal Company water (known as Louden shares) and 3 shares of Louden Extension Canal water (known as Extension shares) both direct flow and storage water.

This means that the FDS lease provides a total of 70-126 ac ft of direct flow water (on average) and 35 ac ft in storage water over the course of the irrigation season. Each producer on site is allocated an individual allotment of water (in ac ft) each year. This will be based on the amounts of water allocated in each producer’s lease and is provided in the overall cost. Producers also have access to municipal water at an additional cost.

Conservation Easement Details

Flores del Sol is part of PVCF’s  partnership with the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Department to keep land out of development and in agriculture. We are seeking producers who share this mission and employ conservation agriculture practices that reduce water use, promote soil health, and protect habitat for pollinators and other wildlife.

The farmed area plays a key role in ongoing restoration efforts, supporting habitat for birds, insects, and other wildlife, with the goal of increasing biodiversity over time. To protect nesting birds, haying is not permitted before July 15th. Producers must obtain permission before constructing any structures on the property.
