Hello, My name is Jeremiah I am a veteran and I am creating an agroforestry bare root and native plant nursery.

My farming approach is regenerative and ecologically based, integrating an agroforestry nursery and silvopasture system. I will produce bare-root fruit, nut, and shrub species using air-pruned beds to grow resilient planting stock. Nursery plants will support on-farm tree establishment. Livestock, including sheep and cattle, will be managed with rotational grazing to improve soil health, nutrient cycling, and forage. Practices will prioritize biodiversity, soil building, and water retention. The goal is a diversified, profitable farm that supports agroforestry adoption and long-term ecological resilience.

Additional Details

My farming practices aim to mimic natural ecosystems, working with seasonal rhythms and regionally adapted species. I will focus on building soil health through minimal disturbance, cover crops, organic inputs, and managed grazing. Guided by regenerative principles, I prioritize ecosystem function, biodiversity, and long-term resilience over short-term yields. I plan to source locally and support regional agriculture while producing agroforestry stock for others. Using whole-farm and holistic management, I will integrate plants, animals, and soil to create a productive, adaptable, and economically viable system.

Equipment and Infrastructure Details

My equipment and infrastructure needs are low-input and scalable. I require tillable land for bare-root beds and will build air-pruned beds using local materials. A greenhouse or hoop house would improve propagation but is not essential at the outset. Basic storage, such as a barn, shed, or simple structure, will support tools, seed, and processing. Water access, such as a well, pond, or stream, is important for irrigation. Overall, the setup is designed to be flexible, cost-effective, and expandable as the nursery grows.
