Seeking Perennial Production - Herbs and Orchard
Goals, Values, Vision
I have previously raised livestock in Montezuma County and completed several Holistic Management International courses. I also audited a semester-long natural building and permaculture design course at Plymouth State University. I have worked in vegetation management and as a biologist for the National Park Service and hold an MS in Environmental Science and Policy. Personally, I have cultivated a small orchard, vegetable garden, and perennial herb garden on my urban plot and regularly coordinate with the local extension office and Pueblo Food Project and CSU Extension Office. I have extensive experience applying for, receiving, and executing grants from the USDA and have worked with RMFU.

Production Practices
Additional Details
The goal would be to ultimately achieve organic certification, however I would begin by following regenerative and chemical-free practices. To support soil health, I would spend time learning the land, assessing soil health, spreading native seeds, and introducing small herds of goats and/or sheep (short-term from other owners) to improve soil health. A composting process would be established and organic-certified compost would initially be applied to new plantings. Documentation would occur from year 1 to work towards towards organic certification.

Equipment and Infrastructure Details
I can construct as needed but will ultimately require a drying shed, drip irrigation system, mini farm check-out/store, and restroom facilities.
